About us

Who are we?

Hello, everyone!

We’re Team 9297, the BOGO Bots, from Topsail High School located in Hampstead, North Carolina.

Our journey began in the 2022–2023 season, following the legacy of The Skeleton Crew. After the passing of our beloved teacher and former coach, Ronnie Jones, we rebuilt from the ground up with just eight dedicated members and Coach Henry’s leadership. Our first robot, Jones 1, honored Mr. Jones and earned us the Rookie Seed Award at UNC Pembroke.

Now a team of over 20 members, we’ve continued to grow and succeed with Jones 2 and Jones 3, even making it to states for the first time. With Jones 4 on the way, we’re more motivated than ever to push the limits of creativity, teamwork, and innovation.

Why the name BOGOBOTS?

Our team name comes from our sponsor, Buffalo Wild Wings', “Buy One, Get One” (BOGO) wing deal on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We are sponsored by their location in Porter's Neck in Wilmington NC in which we have meetings there every on every first Monday on the month.

Want to Join?

Everyone is welcome to join our team! To join? Show up at the G-Building after school on Fridays from 2:05-4:30. No fees or applications needed! Adults are also welcome to help; the more the merrier!

Our Impact

Our team regularly participates in community events and school events. At the school, we participate in curriculum night and open house night. We also volunteer at the annual Spot Festival and Oceanfest. Last year, we helped restart team 9296, TITANium, by helping them with our robot

Our members learn important skills such as CAD, programming, engineering, and fundraising. These skills help them get a job or get into college. Many of our previous members and mentors now work at Corning in Wilmington, where they earn a considerable amount of money and are given a free education.
